It’s Spring Break week here in Georgia and I’m the mother of a 13 (soon to be 14) year old. If you haven’t guessed already, that means I won’t be around much. I’m on holiday from Instagram and I’ve announced there will be sporadic tweeting through April 16th. 😉 As far as the blog goes, I will be posting my daily poems for NaPoWriMo but that’s about it. Before I go I have a few tasty morsels to share.
1. The Hugo Award finalists have been announced! I’m thrilled to see Embassytown by China Miéville is on the novel list! Follow the link to the list on SFSignal.com for a complete list and also links to free fiction from select finalists.
2. I finally bought a new camera, a year after launching my IndieGoGo project. I decided to go with a Refurbished Nikon Coolpix L120, 14 megapixels and 21x zoom. My old camera is only 10 megapixels and 12x zoom!
3. I decided to treat myself to some goodies from Milk and Honey Naturals. I love buying from other Etsy sellers when I have the opportunity. Milk and Honey Naturals is owned and operated by CourtneyJo–you might recognize her as a frequent visitor to my blog.
4. Over the holiday weekend I received this beautiful ACEO from fellow Georgia artist, Windi Rosson!
5. Last, but not least, my short story from StoryADay 2011; which won an Honorable Mention, can now be read online over at my StoryADay blog! I’m dusting off the StoryADay blog, updating some info, sweeping out the cobwebs in preparing for May 1st. There will be more updates coming April 21st.
See you more next week!
New cameras are fun. I’ll be interested in seeing how you like it. I’ve got a Canon, but I still can’t take pics of the moon, they look like plain small white round circles. I probably need the 21x zoom too. Also I’ll be looking to see if you get good shots of insects or flowers. Have fun, you worked hard for it!
Night photos, especially of the moon, are not easy! I’m going to our local Botanical Garden later this week, so I will have some photos to share soon. Thanks, Annie!
Oooooh, I like everything … 🙂
At first I thought that your photos of your camera were photos of luggage … odd, silly, whimsical me. How cool that you have a new camera to play with. I love being able to see the world of nature, cats, what-have-you, through your eyes.
I haven’t taken photos in forever. Well, other than for my blog. And now everything outside is b-l-o-o-m-i-n-g. Yesterday evening Tom and I walked down streets lined with full-to-bursting white cherry blossoms. It was like we were in a parade or at an outdoor wedding.
Love the ACEO … awesome! And the splurge. Isn’t it wonderful how many cool peeps we can meet through blogs and such?!
May you enjoy your break … I will continue to read your daily poems. My poems have been somewhat lack-luster, and yesterdays poem managed to upset T. Oh well. 😦 I mostly don’t have a happy poets voice … perhaps it is time that I developed that … 😛
Oh, and congrats about your story (your post was brimming with info girl-friend!)
(((hugs)

Thanks, Jan! Most of my poetry has a darker undertone, even if most readers don’t see it–I do. I’ve had a lot of sadness in my life and it’s easy to pull from that when I write poems. I think it’s good to get it out, instead of keeping it inside you!
