My Jar of Good Books is one of 200 small jars that will be on display in the Brooklyn Art Library! As you can see, the jar is a swirling pool of first lines from just a handful of great books. I also included some images of book covers, small printed illustrations I created myself, and even a match. In the center is a miniature poster with a quote from Harper Lee:Β “The book to read is not the one that thinks for you but the one which makes you think.”
I’ve already received from great feedback too!

@amandamakepeace I love your concept for this project!

Very imaginative concept, I really like it! Would love to see them in person, however I suppose I’ll have to be happy with these pictures π
Would you mind naming a few of the books you used?:)
Thank you! I wish I could see this when they go on display in NY. I don’t have a date yet, but the Art House is going to post pictures of all of the jars together–that should be quite a sight! As for the books, there is Fahrenheit 451, The Gunslinger, 1984, When She Woke, I am Legend, Veracity, The Road, The Invisible Man and a several more. π
ooooh, this is so cool … you sure do get involved in some great activities … like what you’ve done … especially the lid! π
Thank you! This was a free project too. The Art House Co-op sent me the jar and all it cost me was to return it. I’m doing a paid project too–The Self-Portrait Project–that I need to start soon. π
This is SO COOL!!!!! I really like how you included the cover art ….. and now, of course, totally want one of these. π
Thank you!! I loved this project. I’m a little bummed I won’t be getting it back. Maybe I’ll make another!
can’t wait to see your self-portrait … lovely, no doubt π
