When I woke this morning I grumbled and sighed, not wanting to get up from my warm bed, not wanting to start another week of early mornings. Then I found out that long-time EBSQ member Ruth Jamieson had passed away on Saturday. Complaining about early Monday mornings seems trivial. I didn’t know Ruth very well, but I knew her enough for her passing to tug at my heart. In January of last year I began a short-lived challenge through the EBSQ forums, the Fractal Challenge. That same month I interviewed Ruth for the EBSQ Blog and as it turned out, fractals were one of her passions. What better way to remember a wonderful artist than through her art. The fractals below were Ruth’s entries in the EBSQ Fractal Challenge.
Rest well, Ruth. I hope you are painting rainbows on the other side.
Amanda, I didn’t know Ruth but it is always sad when we lose a creative light in this world. There is so much darkness, hatred and evil in the world. I believe that all artists help balance this with the love and creativity they put into their work. I’m sorry you lost her. *HUGS* Don’t forget to be gentle with yourself today. Maybe create something in her memory if you are so moved. I’m glad you are in my life and your work always makes me smile. Take care and I’ll talk to you soon.
Thank you, Jacqueline. Ruth’s passing is a huge loss for everyone at EBSQ. Your words mean a lot to me.
What stunning work – It’s so sad to lose such talent.
She was such a beautiful soul too.
How did I miss this blog? Looks like Ruth was doing some interesting work. The darker of the three has a real weight to it … which draws me. RIP Ruth.
Ruth was an eclectic artists. In her last days she was making pottery too! She will be missed.
