Me, 1 month after finishing Chemotheraphy (Prom 1994)
Every year I’m asked on Thanksgiving what I’m thankful for, and I always say, I’m thankful to be here. I’ve said these same words ever since I beat Cancer and I’ll probably continue to say them till I’m unable or departed from this world. When you face death and come out on the other side it changes you, forever. Sometimes my troubles can get me down, but I always pick myself back up and keep moving. Because I’ve faced the big one and I won that round.
What are you thankful for?
I am thankful for being present whenever I am and for the awareness of knowing when I have not been present.
Gretchen, I didn’t know you were so philosophical. π
Gratitude and love abounds this season, but then so does desperation and depression for a goodly number of folk. I have been one of those so I am grateful for the love that now resides in my heart …
I like the photo you posted … you look radiant! π
So true, Jan. I always try to be grateful for what I have. We don’t have much, but we have what we need and the people in my life make up for the rest.
And thanks! I hardly remember that young woman in the photo. π
