I enjoy reading the YA version of my favorite genres (SciFi/Fantasy/Horror) but I’m not as well read in these books. Hence, this is only a top ten list. I would love to hear about your favorite YA authors!
In no particular order:
1. Maggie Stiefvater
2. Kiersten White
3. Jo Treggiari
4. Becca Fitzpatrick
5. Julie Kagawa
6. Karen Mahoney
7. Jenna Burtenshaw

I’m thinking those last slots might be filled by Suzanne Collins for The Hunger Games, Scott Westerfeld for The Uglies, and . . . Who would you suggest?

Suzanne Collins is a good pick, as is Westerfeld (I’ve only read Leviathan and Behemoth, haven’t picked up The Uglies yet). Lastly, I’d highly suggest Diana Wynne Jones. I’ve read three of her books (Howl’s Moving Castle, Castle in the Air, and House of Many Ways) and they’re all good books.
Diana Wynne Jones is on my list. I need another me so I can read everything on my life. 😉
I, too, think Suzie-C is a good pick. Hunger Games was well-written … it totally sucked me in from the beginning.
Never read any of Westerfeld … but one of my coworkers swears by him.
Would John Green make it onto your list now with his newest book Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children? Haven’t read it yet, said coworker has and loved it, but there is the most awesome trailer posted for it on youtube.com, watch the one that has over 40,000 views … if you’re interested (tried to link it here, but …)
I am going to have a think on your list of name, to see if I have something unique to add. Save a spot for me? 😛

I haven’t read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, but it keeps popping up when I’m out book shopping. I think I might have added it to my TBR list at Goodreads…

2. Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton … another dark one, but not quite as creepy as W.C.
