On March 12, 2010 I posted on the old blog about a new book on my radar, Wintercraft by Jenna Burtenshaw. Despite coming down with a nasty cold, I was over the moon about this new YA Fantasy novel. But I realized it was not due out in the US till the following year. Sigh. I could wait, and wait I did. During that time I came to know Wintercraft’s author, Jenna a little better. She found me on Twitter and we soon started up mini conversations on Wintercraft, books, birds, moths and more!  Jenna is one of a handful of wonderful people I’ve met online that I can see myself spending time with in “real life.” If only we didn’t live an ocean apart!

In the Fall of last year, she surprised me when she bought a bookmark from my Etsy shop!! Since then she’s bought a couple other goodies from my shop. After her last purchase she asked if I’d like to be put on a list to review the US version of Wintercraft, Shadowcry! I said, yes–of course. 😉

Sadly, months passed and there was no sign of Shadowcry. 😦

Jenna decided it was time to take matters into her own hands and this is how I came to hold this small parcel in my hands:

For Amanda

Inside was not a copy of Shadowcry, but of Wintercraft!!!

Thank you so much, Jenna! Though it has not even been a full year, it seems like I’ve been waiting ages. And now you not only have one eager reader, but two. My daughter is looking forward to reading Wintercraft too!
