I have been in a funk this week–mind wandering, anxious thoughts invading my serenity. It’s just one of those weeks. But it’s not all bad. I had the pleasure of reading Paranomalcy by Kiersten White over the weekend. My daughter is a library helper at her Middle School and has the pleasure of checking out books before they become available to the general masses. I have her to thank for my weekend of fantasy, mystery, romance and adventures with Tasey. Here’s my small review on Goodreads:
So bleeping awesome!! When I read two-thirds of a book in one sitting, you know it’s going to get five stars. Paranormalcy has it all: Mystery, Fantasy, Humor and just bit of Romance. On top of that, the main character, Evelyn is one of the best YA characters I’ve read since The Iron Fey series. Her personality jumps off the page! I can’t wait to read book two!
I really, really love this book. ๐
Musings on writing:
I’ve bookmarked quite a few articles this week on writing, but one stands out. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
For whom do you write? – A short, but powerful post by author, Camille DeAngelis on writing. It’s not a revolutionary idea, but it something creative types can often forget. Read it, read it again and then create–whether you are a writer, artist, musician, etc.
Musings on Art:
I began rendering a new fractal last night, at 10 p.m., just before going to bed. When I woke this morning it was still rendering!! This is going to be one, big fractal!
Fractals, depending on the intricacy can take a long time to render. The result is always worth the wait. ๐
I haven’t read Paranormalcy yet, but I keep seeing good things about it. I need to get through the stack next to the bed first (it would help if books I’ve placed on hold at the library would stop arriving…..). Looking forward to the new fractal! ๐
I too had heard a lot good things about Paranormalcy. I’m glad I finally had a chance to read it. I’m posting that fractal today! ๐
Girl, this is one of those books that I had the galley for but put it back. I am big into the paranormal. After reading your review here I am kicking myself. Oh well, instead I read the ‘Name of the Wind’ and thought that a really good read.
Maybe the galley will return to me … sometime when I am really ready for it.
BTW, I love reading your book reviews … and I read this one outloud to my love, Tom, along with your writer recommended idea. I wonder if he’ll pursue reading that? Ta!
I’m sure it will come back your way again! And thank you! It’s nice to know someone enjoys them. ๐
