Gallery of HorrorGallery of Horror 1983 – Evening Reviews

~ The Typewriter
by David Morrell

One Word Review: Predictable

My first foray into Gallery of Horror was more like watching a Twilight Zone episode. Young, struggling writer finds magical typewriter which helps him become a millionaire. But as always, he loses it all. There really was not anything creepy or scary about this story. The instant the typewriter begins mysteriously typing all on its own the reader knows what is bound to happen.

Regardless, the story was well written, just not what I would call horror. I gave it 3/5 skulls.

The Author: David Morrell is a Canadian novelist from Kitchener, Ontario, who has been living in the United States for a number of years. He is best known for his debut 1972 novel First Blood, which would later become a successful film franchise starring Sylvester Stallone. More recently, he has been writing the Captain America comic books limited-series The Chosen. (via Goodreads)
