Despite feeling unwell, still, I decided to have some down time at the annual pottery exhibit and sale here in Watkinsville. Perspectives is an invitational pottery event hosted by OCAF (Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation). It features ceramic artists from all over the state. There is an exhibit in the main gallery, as well as a huge pottery sale in the nearby Rocket Hall.
OCAF is the heart of the arts community here in Oconee County. I’m hoping to become a member myself very soon.
I’ve been living in Oconee County for a year now, but this was my first visit to the OCAF Gallery. Large windows line the old brick walls; which are complemented by the aged wood floors. The space is perfect for showcasing art and could even be a studio too. Wonderful natural light fills the room.
One piece that stood out from this exhibition almost fooled me into thinking it was not pottery. Especially the handle, seen above, looked like wood. But no, the entire piece is made of clay.
After wandering around the exhibit for a time I went in search of the infamous pottery sale. I couldn’t even fit the entire sale room into one photograph! Below are a few of my favorites from the sale.
